About Kelpmont
We spent years watching mid-market consulting firms make expensive staffing decisions with inadequate information.
The problem wasn't that partners didn't care. They cared enormously. The problem was that the data they needed to make better decisions was scattered across systems that weren't designed to talk to each other — and the institutional knowledge that would have helped was in people's heads, not in any tool.
So we built Kelpmont.
"The typical mid-market consulting firm makes staffing decisions worth $3-5 million in annual revenue on the basis of whoever's most top-of-mind when the staffing call happens. That's not a people problem. It's a data infrastructure problem."
— Sarah Mitchell, CEO & Co-founder
Our mission: make consulting staffing a data-informed decision.
Not algorithmic. Not automated. Data-informed — where the partners making staffing decisions have access to signal from their firm's full engagement history, not just the names they can remember when the pressure is on.
We're building for firms with 30-300 consultants who've outgrown spreadsheets but don't have the technical resources to build internal data infrastructure. Firms where staffing decisions actually matter — where one wrong assignment costs more than a month's subscription to any software in their stack.
How We Work
The principles we build and operate by.
Data transparency first
When Kelpmont surfaces a staffing recommendation, it shows you the signal that drove it. Not a score with no explanation — an auditable rationale that a partner can evaluate and override if their judgment says different.
We're not in the data business
Your firm's engagement data is yours. We don't train models on it, we don't aggregate it across clients, and we don't use it for any purpose other than running your staffing intelligence. We've said no to capabilities that would have required us to compromise this.
Built for consulting, not adapted
We didn't take an HR SaaS product and add features for consulting. We started from how mid-market consulting firms actually operate and built backward to the data model and UX. That difference shows up everywhere in the product.
Long-term partnerships, not transactions
Staffing intelligence takes time to build because it takes time to accumulate the engagement history that makes recommendations meaningful. We're designed for firms willing to invest in that accumulation — and we price accordingly.
